NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. What started as a small group of families gathered around a kitchen table in 1979 has blossomed into the nation's leading voice on mental health. Today, we are an association of more than 600 local Affiliates and 48 State Organizations who work in your community to raise awareness and provide support and education that was not previously available to those in need.

OHEL provides comprehensive mental health services to those facing acute mental illness and everyday individuals and families confronted by everyday emotional challenges. With over 43 years’ experience in strengthening the emotional well-being of individuals and families, OHEL provides a depth of highly experienced professionals, fluent in English, Hebrew and Yiddish and who are sensitive to the different cultural sensitive of diverse communities. Individual and family wellness services are coordinated through OHEL’s Regional Family Centers in Brooklyn, Far Rockaway, and Northern New Jersey.

Project Proactive is a nonprofit aiming to break mental health stigmas and proactively alleviate barriers to health through spreading awareness and education. The goal is to make it easy for you to find the supports you are looking for, by bringing together and unifying all the incredible organizations, advocates, mental health professionals and resources, while also supporting the development of new resources. Project Proactive’s most recent initiatives include: a teen leadership development program, various children’s books related to mental health, and continuous resource development.

Mental Health America (MHA) - founded in 1909 - is the nation’s leading community-based nonprofit dedicated to addressing the needs of those living with mental illness and to promoting the overall mental health of all Americans. Our work is driven by our commitment to promote mental health as a critical part of overall wellness, including prevention services for all; early identification and intervention for those at risk; integrated care, services, and supports for those who need it; with recovery as the goal.

AMI-Quebec Action on Mental Illness is a non-profit organization that helps families manage the effects of mental illness through support, education, guidance, and advocacy. AMI-Quebec helps family caregivers cope with mental illness in a loved one. Family includes those in the circle of support of someone living with mental illness (parents, spouses, siblings, adult children, friends, etc.) Many of our programs are open to anyone and may also be of special interest to those living with mental illnesses.
